What is your opinion on Ken Clarke's 'controversial' speech?

The big problem here I see, is we all know there have been cases of men falsely accused of rape and been convicted. The miscarriage of justice is not uncovered for many years. Now if you tell the accused he will get a lighter sentence if he pleads guilty and say that person is not particularly intelligent, it's much more difficult later to prove a miscarriage of justice even if he is innocent. In this instance, I think it's a case of the prosecution proving a case beyond reasonable doubt rather taking the risk of someone pleading guilty on false advise.
